Among boys and men, violence is glorified and sometimes used as a measure of strength and control in their circles. Peer-to-Peer violence is common among teenagers in and out of school and is used as a measure for earning respect and recognition. It is used to connote dominance and power among peers. Men are also survivors of intimate partner violence. However, the patriarchal system responds to this need and instead blame the boys and men in this situation. National and social institutions have weak or no systems to support men as survivors of intimate partner violence. Among boys, close family members perpetrate violence.  Boys are heavily punished for the mistakes they in cultural, religious and learning institutions.

Our Intervention areas include but are not limited to the following:

  • Unlearning violence for boys and men.
  • Conflict management and peacebuilding for men and boys.
  • Profiling of intimate partner violence meted on men and boys for advocacy.
  • Eliminating harmful cultural and religious events that predispose boys and men to violence.
  • Support healing for boys and men survivors of violence.

Objective:  Boys and men re-oriented into a gender transformative lifestyle fostering new masculinity in families and communities in Kenya.
